WV cops seize P70-M ‘shabu’

ILOILO City – In eight months of operations, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) was able to seize P70 million worth of illegal drugs and arrest 1,499 drug pushing suspects.  

Between January and August this year, cops in Region 6 conducted 1,179 anti-drug operations resulting in the confiscation of 9,952,761 grams of illegal drugs that included methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) and marijuana.

“We expect more confiscations before this year ends,” said Police Lieutenant Colonel Arnel Solis, PRO-6 spokesperson.

Illegal drugs seized this year were 43.65 percent higher than those recovered in the same period last year.  

“Our PRO-6 director, Police Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, has ordered us to exert more effort and focus on high-value targets,” Solis said.

On the other hand, PRO-6 also seized 377 loose firearms in 294 operations. A total of 294 gun owners were arrested. /PN
