PATNONGON, Antique – The Balay Pag-asa halfway house for children in conflict with the law (CICLs) here has been completed.
This 24-hour child-caring institution of the municipal government will provide short-term residential care and appropriate crisis intervention to CICLs 15 to 17 years old waiting for the resolution of their court cases or waiting for their transfer to other agencies or jurisdictions.
There will be individual and group counseling and activities that ensure CICLs’ rehabilitation.
Balay Pag-asa is 240 square meters. It has two bedrooms, a living area, two toilets and a dining place.
It will also have a social worker.
Construction started in 2016 during the administration of then mayor Johnny Flores Bacongallo.
The initial budget was P1,500,000.
On Wednesday, Mayor Evohn Nee Baldestamon inspected Balay Pag-asa with Vice Mayor Johnnyflores Bacongallo, among others.
According to Baldestamon, data from the Patnongon police station and the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office showed the need for a halfway house for CICLs./PN
