ILOILO City – The police in Bacolod City must hasten their investigation into the killings that had happened in less than 30 days, according to Police Brigadier General Rolando Miranda, police regional director.
An incensed Miranda slammed Tuesday’s killing of a nine-year-old boy and his 73-year-old grandfather in Abada Escay, Barangay Vista Alegre.
“Sinong hindi ma-alarma kasi dinamay nila ang minor na walang alam?” Miranda told Panay News.
Watchman Aurelio Rull and his grandson succumbed to multiple stab wounds.
“Kawawa ang bata, hindi sana nila dinamay. Whoever did it, they will be answerable for this,” said Miranda.
The regional director took a swipe at Police Colonel Manuel Placido, director of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), saying this “affected” the peace and order in Bacolod.
Miranda told Panay News he did not even know the death of Rull and his grandson (as of Tuesday afternoon), saying he has not received a report from BCPO despite the incident happened around 2 a.m.
“Our investigators told us the motive was robbery,” Miranda said.
An investigation report showed there were no missing items from the victims’ house.
“We have to conduct a thorough investigation on this matter and other murder cases. I had an instruction to Placido,” Miranda said.
He directed Placido to strengthen their barangay intelligence network, and deploy more policemen, especially during nighttime.
That was the fourth of the five killings in Bacolod. The latest was yesterday. A pedicab driver was shot dead in Purok Boulevard, Barangay 13.
On Aug. 29, Police Staff Sergeant Joseph Nepomoceno, member of the City Drug Enforcement Unit of BCPO, was shot to death by riding-in-tandem suspects.
He died of multiple gunshot wounds.
The motorcycle-riding Nepomoceno was in civilian clothes.
On Aug. 31, drug suspect Glenn Paul Castillo of Barangay Cabug was shot, stabbed and beheaded on Rosario Street, Barangay 38.
His head was recovered almost three kilometers away in Purok Sigay, Barangay 2.
Eight people were last seen with Castillo before the incident.
Police recovered several empty .9mm and .45 bullet casings from the crime scene.
On Sept. 20, a handcuffed Mark Anthony Cubos of Aguinaldo Street was found with 26 gunshot wounds in Barangay Banago.
A placard was recovered beside him with the words, “El vigilante drug lord warrior” and “segeha pa, segeha pa, segeha nyo pa, INTERES PA LANG NI SA SINI NGA BULAN”.
“Hindi pwede mangyari ‘yan,” said Miranda. “We have to do our best to solve these incidents.”/PN
