BACOLOD City – A village watchman (tanod) was shot to death by unidentified gunmen on 13th Lacson Street, Barangay 7 yesterday morning.
The 42-year-old Michael Hugo was a resident of Purok Tahong in Barangay 2.
Based on initial investigation, Hugo, who also worked as a tricycle driver, picked up two passengers – a male and a female – in Barangay Banago.
When they reached Lacson Street, one of the passengers shot him multiple times.
Despite the wounds, Hugo reportedly managed to run for at least 25 meters before dropping in front of a hotel.
The suspects, meanwhile, boarded a waiting motorcycle to flee.
Hugo died on the spot.
The victim’s wife Nerissa said her husband had no prior threats nor had he been involved in illegal drugs.
Investigators from Police Station 2 were checking Hugo’s background. There were reports he was previously a police asset./PN
