CAPIZ –A 33-year-old person deprived of liberty (PDL) undergoing quarantine escaped from the quarantine facility of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Dumalag town.
Christopher Formalidad was a resident of Cabatuan, Iloilo and newly remitted to the BJMP facility in Dumalag.
The escape was discovered around 7 a.m. yesterday during a routine headcount of PDLs being quarantined on the third floor of the BJMP building in Sitio Lonoy, Barangay Sta. Cruz.
Newly remitted inmates of the BJMP undergo mandatory 14-day quarantine to make sure they are free from coronavirus disease, according to Police Staff Sergeant Wilhem Gervero, investigator of the Dumalag police station.
Formalidad was imprisoned for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. He used blankets to climb down the BJMP building from a third floor window.
