ILOILO City – Crime incidents in Western Visayas decreased in 10 months, comparative data from the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) showed.
Between January and October this year, the region recorded 14,022 incidents – 20.02 lower than last year’s 17,534 logged in the same period.
Iloilo province so far had the highest crime incidents with 3,378, followed by Iloilo City –3,189; Negros Occidental – 2,920; Capiz – 1,375; Bacolod City – 1,101; Aklan – 958; Antique – 766; and Guimaras – 335.
PRO-6 recorded 2,136 incidents involving eight-focus crimes – 9.72 percent lower than the 2,366 recorded in the same period last year.
These included: murder – 318, homicide – 111, physical injury – 491, rape – 415, robbery – 215, theft – 530, carnapping – 6 and motor napping – 50.
The new PRO-6 director, Police Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, commended all unit commanders and urged them to strengthen their anti-crime operations.
Dongbo, former chief of the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group of the Philippine National Police, will also run after erring cops.
