BACOLOD City – The police of Cauayan, Negros Occidental served an arrest warrant to a man in Barangay Caliling, Cauayan charged with illegal logging.
From his house, 40-year-old Ronald Tabotabo was taken to the municipal police station at around 11:30 a.m. on Dec. 15.
The warrant of arrest against Tabotabo was issued by Judge Rodney Magbanua of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 61.
Tabotabo was accused of violating the Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines (Presidential Decree No. 705). The court set his bail bond at P40,000.
It was unclear as of this writing if Tabotabo was able to bail himself out.
Section 68 of Presidential Decree No. 705 prohibits cutting, gathering and/or collecting timber or other products without license./PN
