VALDERRAMA, Antique – The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Valderrama, Antique decided to postpone the Panubason Festival 2022 celebration on January 22-25, 2022 due to the increase of positivity rate of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and the town is also under Alert Level System 3 classification of IATF.
Mayor Mary Joyce M. Roquero announce to postpone the festival last Monday afternoon, January 17, 2022.
“The Local Government Unit of Valderrama, together with the Panubason Festival Executive Committee, wishes to notify the public that the Events and Activities of the Panubason Festival 2022 are hereby postponed indefinitely,” said Roquero.
Roquero explained that under Alert Level System 3 the crowd-drawing activities and high-risk activities are prohibited. That’s why the LGU decided to postpone the festival.
“As per National IATF Resolution 156-C issued on January 12, 2022, the Province of Antique has been escalated to ALERT LEVEL 3, thus all crowd-drawing activities and high-risk events are temporarily prohibited. As much as we look forward to celebrating our long-awaited festival with all of you, we have to prioritize public health safety,” Roquero added.
The LGU did not commit the exact date when the festival will resume. They are still waiting until COVID-19 cases will be lower and manageable.
As of January 16, Valderrama has 310 total confirmed cases wherein 21 are still active, 284 recovered, and 5 deaths.
“We strongly encourage the public to abide by all mandated health protocols for us to speedily recover from this pandemic. When we finally heal as one community, we will once again rejoice in the abundance of harvest and talents in the Municipality of Valderrama,” Roquero said./PN
