ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), in its intensified campaign against wanted persons, was able to arrest 5,751 individuals with pending warrants of arrest in Western Visayas in 2021.
Of the arrested wanted persons, 883 were classified as most wanted persons (MWPs) and 4,868 were those charged with crimes with lesser penalty.
The MWPs were from the following areas:
* Aklan – 73
* Antique – 59
* Bacolod City – 97
* Capiz – 74
* Iloilo City – 82
* Iloilo province – 170
* Guimaras – 17
* Negros Occidental – 287
* Criminal Investigation and Detection Group – Regional Field Unit 6 – 24
The other wanted persons were from Aklan (231), Antique (183), Bacolod City (511), Capiz (254), Iloilo City (184), Iloilo Province (1,001), Guimaras (98), Negros Occidental (2,380), and the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit – Regional Field Unit 6 (26).
The total arrested persons in 2021 were 1,381 or 31.6 percent higher compared to 2020’s 4,370.
For the MWPs, the 2021 data was 432 or 95. 8 percent higher compared to 2020 with 451. Meanwhile, arrested other wanted persons were 949 or 24.2 percent higher than 2020 with 3,919.
Police Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, PRO-6 director, attributed the accomplishment to all unit commanders and tracker teams.
“Sa mga naiwan pang mga wanted na nagtatago sa batas, ito ay nagpapakita na kayo’y makapagtago sa ngayon, pero hindi ‘yan habang buhay… Darating ang panahon na maabot kayo ng mahabang kamay ng batas,” said Dongbo./PN
