ILOILO City – The Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) is ready to implement “no touch” visitations in jails in areas under Alert Level 2 or lower.
“PDLs’ families can now visit their jailed loved ones, but no hugging and no touching,” according to Chief Inspector Jairus Anthony Dogelio, spokesperson of BJMP Region 6.
Starting today Aklan, Bacolod City, Capiz, and Guimaras are shifting to Alert Level 1, which the Department of Health (DOH) describes as the “new normal.”
On the other hand, Antique, Iloilo City, Iloilo Province, and Negros Occidental are shifting to Alert Level 2 after being under Alert Level 3 until yesterday.
Actually, according to Dogelio, jail facilities in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental started accepting visits from immediate family members of inmates last month yet after Alert Level 2 was declared.
Every jail facility has a designated area for visitation, and there is a plastic barrier between the inmate and the visitor.
Only those fully vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) will be allowed to visit inmates, said Dogelio.
They must present their vaccination cards and valid identification cards.
Visits are scheduled to control the crowd.
Children and girlfriends are not allowed to visit except perhaps those vaccinated against COVID-19, Dogelio added./PN
