ILOILO – In this province, 13,092 children between five to 11 years old have been vaccinated against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as of the Feb. 24 data of the Provincial Health Office (PHO).

PHO targets to vaccinate 267,470 kids.

The COVID-19 vaccination for children was rolled out on Feb. 14.

The 13,092 vaccinated kids (five percent of the target) were from the following areas:

* Ajuy (120), Alimodian (179), Anilao (230), Badiangan (203), Balasan (500), Banate (317), Barotac Nuevo (485), Barotac Viejo (296), Batad (170), Bingawan (91)

* Cabatuan (260), Calinog (232), Carles (370), Passi City (151), Concepcion (304), Dingle (400), Dueñas (159), Dumangas (110), Estancia (479), Guimbal (483), Igbaras (125)

* Janiuay (250), Lambunao (344), Leganes (382), Lemery (200), Leon (220), Maasin (276), Miag-ao (303), Mina (181), New Lucena (120), Oton (429), Pavia (853), Pototan (420)

* San Dionisio (143), San Enrique (160), San Joaquin (907), San Miguel (230), San Rafael (140), Santa Barbara (541), Sara (240), Tigbauan (460), Tubungan (100), Zarraga (340), and PHO (179).

The PHO has vaccination sites at the West Visayas State University Cultural Center in La Paz, Iloilo City and Robinsons Place Pavia.

Reformulated COVID-19 vaccines of Pfizer were used.

According to Dr. Maria Socorro Colmenares-Quiñon, PHO chief, no adverse effects were reported.

“Sa wala pa makapabakuna, mag-inquire na sa inyo nga banwa kon san-o puede,” said Quiñon.

Requirements to be presented are birth certificate of the child, valid identification card of the child with picture, valid ID of parent or guardian with picture, and medical certificate for those with comorbidities./PN
