CENECO power rate down this May by P0.2917 per kwh

BACOLOD City – Good news to electricity consumers of Central Negros Electric Cooperative (CENECO) – the rate for the billing month of May is P11.1401 per kilowatt hour (kwh).

There is a decrease of P0.2917/kWh from last month’s rate of P11.4318/kWh, according to CENECO acting general manager Ervin Stan Leo Ticar.

He attributed the rate drop to net reduction in generation, transmission and system loss charges, as well as other pass-through charges.

Ticar urged consumers to be conscientious by monitoring their monthly electricity usage.

“While the world market’s fuel prices remain volatile and may affect our electricity rates, the CENECO board and management continue to remind electricity consumers to conserve energy to avoid paying high electricity bills,” Ticar added.

CENECO services Silay City, Bacolod City, Talisay City, Bago City and the municipalities of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto all in Negros Occidental.

Recently, the Sanggunian Panlungsod of Bacolod City passed a resolution asking CENECO to explain before the city council the increases in its generation system charge.

It pointed out that the generation system charge from January 2022 to April 2022 almost doubled – from 4.0891 per kilowatt hour to 7.346 per kilowatt hour for residential member-consumers./PN
