ILOILO City – Two Iloilo-based party-lists were officially proclaimed on Thursday by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
Both Uswag Ilonggo party-list and AAMBIS-Owa got one seat each in the 19th Congress. The first nominees of the two party-lists would serve as congressmen.
Uswag Ilonggo’s first nominee is businessman James “Jojo” Ang Jr. while AAMBIS-Owa’s is Atty. Lex Colada.
There are a total of 55 winning party-list groups out of the 177 party-lists who participated in the May 9 elections.
Uswag Ilonggo is a multi-sectoral representation which prioritizes progress and the welfare of every Ilonggo family via its five-point agenda.
These major thrusts include the well-being of every Ilonggo family; proper healthcare for the poor; consistent programs on infrastructure and tourism; agriculture and fisheries; and education, especially more scholarships for the youth.
On the other hand, AAMBIS-Owa’s mission is to improve the lives, and uplift the welfare of poor and marginalized farmers, especially family farmers. It supports, promotes, and protects the interest of the farmers as they are deemed crucial in safeguarding food security and economic development of the country.
AAMBIS-Owa believes that agriculture is one of the most important sectors in the Philippine society. It strongly stands that the government has to focus its efforts on the sectors where the poorest is the highest and the unemployment the largest. The party-list has a vision of a Philippine society where farmers have improved living conditions, and have developed their full potentials./PN
