BACOLOD City –The Election Registration Board (ERB) in this city disapproved 32 applications for voters’ registration filed between July 4 to 23.

According to City Commission on Elections (Comelec) officer Kathrina Trinio-Caña, chairperson of the ERB, the applicants admitted during hearings held on Aug. 1 to 4  that they were not residents of the barangays stated in their applications.

Thirty-one of the disapproved applications stated that their address was Barangay 19, while one claimed to be a resident of Barangay 28.

A total of 41 applications were questioned and subjected to hearings.

Trinio-Caña said the applicants whose applications were disapproved could still appeal.

The other members of the ERB were lawyers Jubert Katalbas, Bacolod School Division; and Hermilo Pauyon, head of the City Civil Registry Office.

The ERB is mandated by Repuiblic Act 8189 to hear registration applications every quarter of every year for the registration period.
