ILOILO City – The application for renewal of franchise of BP Waterworks Inc. – a water supplier of a residential subdivision in Pavia, Iloilo – is facing opposition from homeowners.
The National Water Resources Board (NWRB) has set today the second hearing for the Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) application of the water supplier.
BP Waterworks applied for a CPC to operate and maintain a waterworks system within Deca Homes Iloilo Subdivision in barangays Pandac, Jibao-an and Balabag in the municipalities of Pavia and Sta. Barbara.
In October this year, barangay officials of Pandac, Balabag and Jibao-an, and officials of DECA Homes Phase 1 Homeowners Association and DHPRR 1 and 2, in a meeting with the local officials of Pavia, unanimously agreed to submit a consolidated opposition to the application for renewal of franchise by BP Waterworks as water service provider of Deca Homes.
The concessionaires cited the water supplier’s poor services and management.
The “oppositors” want a new and efficient water supplier to operate within their area.
The meeting was attended by Vice Mayor Edsel Gerochi and Sangguniang Bayan (SB) member Daniel S. Fajardo II, SB committee on environment/infrastructure chairperson.
Pavia mayor Lawrence Anthony G. Gorriceta also submitted his opposition letter to BP Waterworks’ application with the NWRB./PN
