BACOLOD City – The general manager of a local power cooperative was shot “dead on the spot” by still unidentified gunmen inside his vehicle along 16th Lacson Street, Barangay 7 here past 12 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 21.

Atty. Danny Pondevilla headed the Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (Noneco) and formerly served as office-in-charge of Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco).

He was in his vehicle parked in front of BazketBCD hawker establishment when a gunman shot him at the back of his head, said Police Lieutenant Jonito Pastrana, Police Station 2 commander.

Responding policemen recovered a spent bullet casing of a .45 handgun at the crime scene as well as one bullet slug.

Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) director, Police Colonel Thomas Joseph Martir, said they have two persons of interest.

Martir said the bullet shell and slug were immediately sent to a forensics laboratory, while Pondevilla’s remains will undergo post-mortem examination.

The BCPO director also ordered the creation of a Special Investigation Task Group to probe the murder.

Pondevilla, fondly addressed as “GM Dan”, finished his undergraduate studies on AB Political Science at 21, and passed the Bar and became a lawyer at 25.

Pondevilla was, by far, also the youngest at 27 to serve as legal officer of the Talisay City government in Negros Occidental./PN
