TOMORROW, Feb. 28, marks the actual day MORE Power officially became the sole power distribution utility of Iloilo City three years ago.
Although MORE Power’s franchise was signed by then President Rodrigo Duterte on Feb. 14, 2019, why it took a year for the official assumption were the melodramatics and tantrums of the previous power provider requiring an order from the courts for them to literally vacate the premises.
Since then, Iloilo City became the beneficiary to unprecedented rehabilitation / modernization of the antiquated / dilapidated power distribution system abandoned by the previous power utility with investments in billions of pesos. After almost a century, the Ilonggos finally experienced excellent customer service and relations.
And Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas speaks…

I have seen the dedication of the personnel to provide better service to the Ilonggos, and the massive investments made by them to improve services to our people. We have benefited a lot since MORE Power came in. Electric power has become more reliable. Old and dilapidated poles have been replaced. A new substation in Megaworld area has been constructed. Service has become customer-friendly. I am so glad MORE Power has been in place for more than a year now. As customers of MORE Power, we are more than satisfied with their service.”
As a good corporate citizen of Iloilo, here’s a tradition started by MORE Power:
MORE Power released a total of 1,095 juvenile fishes into the Iloilo River, marking the number of days they’ve been serving the Ilonggos since February 2020.
The fingerlings release reflects MORE Power’s commitment to environmental stewardship and dedication, ensuring the availability of sustainable aquatic food in Iloilo River.
MORE Power is committed in advancing its environmental efforts with Iloilo City’s thrust as a sustainable city.
Indeed, Happy Anniversary to MORE Power and more good things to come for the Ilonggos and Iloilo City.
Correcting EDSA, Part2
Let’s segue to myths which somehow shaped the consciousness of “wokes” and “useful idiots”, particularly those born post-martial law and EDSA.
Contrary to popular belief, the Left/pseudo-communists were never part of the “EDSA revolution”. The usual left leaning and pseudo communist groups, including the CPP/NPA/NDF, chose not to take part in the snap election which led to this EDSA nonsense. They were never present in the events that took place in EDSA.
Why? The EDSA nonsense was not part of their agenda in turning the Philippines into a communist state.
The EDSA nonsense was originally a mutiny of the Reform the Armed Forces Movement disgruntled soldiers led by Defense Secretary Juan Ponce Enrile and Constabulary Chief General Fidel Ramos, the enemies of the CPP/NPA/NDF.
However, in a bizarre twist of fate or perhaps astute maneuvering, Cory Aquino and her yellow cronies somehow snatched EDSA, claiming it as theirs. And the rest is history.
The irony and cruel of twist of fate is that although the Left/pseudo-communists were never part of EDSA, they benefited and profited politically from it.
During martial law, the late Joma Sison, founder and demi-god of the CPP/NPA/NDF, and his cronies were either in jail or eliminated and the insurgency was crumbling.
Unfortunately, Cory Aquino released Joma Sison, reviving a dying insurgency. And her 1987 Constitution created the party-list system giving CPP/NPA/NDF front organizations i.e. Makabayanbloc, a path to infiltrate Congress to undermine the government using government resources.
Most probably, without EDSA, the insurgency would have died.
Fortunately, there’s Rodrigo Duterte and the holistic approach of the NTF-ELCAC attacking this insurgency’s very roots. Now the 89 CPP/NPA fronts are reduced to 22, with 19 already disintegrating.
Meanwhile, former activists launched Kilusang Pagwawasto ng Kasaysayan at Pagkakaisa ng Sambayan – a coalition of former First Quarter Storm cadres, Hands Off Our Children Movement, League of Parents of the Philippines, Yakap ng Magulang, Hugpong Obrero, Samahan ng Mahihirap para sa Kapayapaan at Kaunlaran ng Bayan, Solidarity Parents and Educators for Empowerment, Peace, and Development with Artists For Nation-Building.
The message is quite obvious. The insurgency is irrelevant and obsolete./PN
