ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office (PRO-6) would provide security personnel to local chief executives (LCE) with security hazards.
Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco, PRO-6 director, said there would be a threat assessment and endorsement to the Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG) before they could provide security personnel.
“May mga criteria muna tayo na gagawin at there is a threat assessment. Ipapasa natin ito sa PSPG and the PNP chief will be the one to approve it, ‘yon yung mga process,” Francisco said during a press conference at Camp Gen. Martin Teofilo B. Delgado yesterday.
He added even he could approve protective security assignment if the threat is validated.
“Meron na akong authority na pagbigyan ng security anybody na merong valid threat or security nightmare. Meaning ‘pag may threat ka at na-validate namin ito, I can give two security personnel. Kung medyo matagal ang kailangan na maisailalim siya sa security ng mga kapulisan, PSPG ang magbibigay sa kanya ng ganoong klaseng seguridad,” Francisco added.
Francisco also directed chiefs of police and provincial directors to coordinate with local officials in their areas of responsibility (AOR) to assess the security threats of elected government officials.
“May mga elected government officials tayo na iba ang threat; may iba naman na regular security ang kailangan,” Francisco said.
Security measures for LCEs were made tighter after the strafing incident in Negros Oriental, which killed Gov. Roel Degamo and eight other civilians.
“I do not want to happen here what is happening around the country. I’ll see to it na appropriate security will be done at kung mabigyan kami ng tamang impormasyon, tamang aksyon rin ang gagawin ng kapulisan ng PRO-6,” Francisco said./PN
