ANTIQUE – Travel from the province of Antique to Mindoro or Palawan and vice versa via small sea crafts are still cancelled due to a gale warning issued by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
Coast Guard Lieutenant Senior Grade Rey D. Anacita, commander of the Philippine Coast Guard Station-Antique, released an advisory on Tuesday morning, May 30.
“In reference to PAGASA gale warning number 5, as of 5 a.m. on May 30, strong to gale-force winds associated with Typhoon Betty and the Southwest monsoon are affecting the Western Seaboards of Visayas, particularly the province of Antique,” read part of the advisory.
Trips from Antique, particularly in Semirara, Caluya, Libertad and Culasi, going to Mindoro or Palawan and vice versa via small sea craft of 250 gross tonnage and below are still cancelled while large vessels are alerted against big waves.
Likewise, trips from Barangay Poblacion en route to Mararison Island, Culasi, Antique are still cancelled, in compliance with HPCG memorandum circular No. 03-01 (Guidelines on the movement of motorboats/vessels in the absence of weather bulletin in the locality).
Anacita said the resumption of trips will depend on PAGASA’s next weather bulletin.
The seagoing public, coastal communities, and fisher folk were advised not to venture into the sea and refrain from engaging in sea-related activities to prevent any untoward incidents./PN
