ILOILO City – Team Iloilo City Sports Academy (ICSA) emerged as champions in the Gametime Sports 14-Under Regional Girls Volleyball League on Sunday at the Santa Clarita International School Covered Gym here.
Team ICSA clinched the crown after defeating A & T Volleyball Club in the gold medal game to take homr their second championship in Gametime Sports-organized pocket volleyball tournament.
Jana Kate Ardales of Team ICSA was named as the Finals Most Valuable Player while teammates Mary Den Majaba, Juiliane Marynz Castañeda and Sambymel Angeli Chang were awarded as Best Server, Best Setter and Best Libero, respectively.
Also part of the Team ICSA were Kristen Deraper Silva, Megan Fiel Jerez, Gerzel Rodriguez, Andhrea Nicole Galvez, Gwiendelle Jorque, Jayzel Martinez, Johanna Pagunsan, Juliana Zarraga and Kylie Ezler.
Team ICSA, which was formed with the help of Iloilo City mayor Jerry Trenas, was handled by head coach Rollie Moleno with Nicole John Lactopo serving as his assistant.
Other individual awardees were Ashley Deanon and Smol Simora of A & T Volleyball Club as Best Middle Blocker and Best Opposite Hitter, respectively, while Jelleane Laborte of St. John’s Institute-B as Best Attacker.
Guimaras salvaged a bronze medal finish while St. John’s Institute’s Team B and A ended at fourth and fifth place, respectively, and Pontevedra Jr. Fire Antz completed the participating teams.
Gametime Sports founder Rodolfo Go Villaruz was thankful to the participating teams from Guimaras, Capiz and Bacolod City in the two-day volleyball tournament, which was graced by Akari Power Chargers team manager Mozzy Ravena as special guest.
“We want to congratulate all the participating teams for accepting our invite here in our pocket tournament. Everyone of them gave their best and had gained valuable learning experiences,” Villaruz said.
Villaruz also shared that the next tournament for the Gametime Sports is the 12- Under Boys and Girls Volleyball League that will start on July 8 at the same venue./PN
