BACOLOD City – At least P400,000 worth of supplies were allegedly stolen from the Negros Occidental Provincial Engineering motorpool on Gatuslao Street in Bacolod City.
Arnel Argusar, head of the Provincial General Services Office, said they discovered the robbery following their regular inventory conducted on Oct. 31.
The stolen items were 21 vehicle batteries and motor oil.
According to their initial probe, the burglars accessed a hole in the wall of the motorpool’s supply room. The hole was not easily noticed as the suspects covered it with hollow blocks.
Argusar said they believed the suspects may have been occupants of the adjacent house.
Further investigation of the incident is being conducted to determine the possibility of an inside job.
Police later recovered five of the stolen batteries during an operation in Barangay Pahanocoy, Bacolod City.
However, the investigation encountered a setback as one of the contacts who facilitated the buying of the stolen batteries died in an accident.
The case has already been referred to the Provincial Legal Office. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
