BACOLOD City – District hospitals in Negros Occidental were placed on “code white” alert ahead of Christmas and New Year’s Day celebrations.
Under code white, medical personnel are on an “on-call status for immediate mobilization” to ensure the readiness of hospitals to respond to emergencies such as injuries or poisoning due to firecrackers.
Dr. Mary Ann Maestral, chief of the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital (TLJPH) in Silay City, said the preparations of the hospital operations department have been initiated since last month.
Personnel and supplies are now in place and hospitals are ready for emergencies, she added.
District hospitals are also prepared for the post-New Year festivities.
Aside from TLJPH, other provincial government-run hospitals are the Cadiz District Hospital, Valladolid District Hospital, Ignacio L. Arroyo Memorial District Hospital in Isabela, Gov. Valeriano M. Gatuslao Memorial Hospital in Himamaylan City, Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial Hospital in La Carlota City, Eleuterio T. Decena Memorial Hospital in Hinoba-an, Mercedes Montilla District Hospital in Sipalay City, and Lorenzo D. Zayco District Hospital in Kabankalan City. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
