BACOLOD City – Three former members of the communist terrorist group in Negros Occidental have recently pledged allegiance to the government.
“Ka Kokoy,” “Ka Ashly,” and “Ka Chan” were formerly associated with the Roselyn Pelle Command of the Northern Negros Front of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army.
Through effective negotiations and prompt facilitation by the local authorities, the three were persuaded to choose to live as law-abiding citizens in peace with their families.
They turned themselves into police authorities on Jan. 3 in Barangay Hacienda Fe, Escalante City.
The Escalante City government is working on securing benefits for the surrendering individuals, including their enrollment in the government’s Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program and Project “Pag-Ulikid.”/PN
