ILOILO City – Expect some changes in the security protocol during the Dinagyang tribes competition at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand in the coming years.
This was announced by Mayor Jerry Treñas a day after he blew his top at the security personnel of the “very important persons” (VIPs) who made unruly behavior during the opening ceremony of the tribes competition at the Freedom Grandstand.
The mayor blew his top in his opening speech during the tribes competition on Sunday, Jan. 28, after some security personnel of the VIPs made unruly behavior.
“Ang mga security sang mga VVIP wala kamu da ya labot sa babaw. Indi na ta ka tan-aw, kamu na lang tan-awon ko. Sa liwat pasauton ko sila sa tubangan ko,” Treñas told reporters.
Likewise, the mayor said he would ensure that everyone at the Freedom Grandstand should be seated based on their assigned seats in the next Dinagyang Festival.
Treñas’ temper flared up when he saw that some security escorts of the prominent politicians made unnecessary movements while the ceremony was ongoing.
“Pauntata na anay. Panghaboy ko na karun. Abi kung may gahambal, waay danay may malakat,” the mayor told the security personnel.
“Daw lango-lango ni ang gina-obra niyo. Aga pa, gapasaway kamo. When someone is talking here (in front), please do not disturb,” he lamented.
After berating the security escorts, the mayor welcomed everyone on stage and thanked fellow leaders and local and foreign tourists for coming over to the city to witness the tribes competition.
Meanwhile, Treñas thanked thousands of security forces that composed the Task Group Dinagyang, saying the role of the task group in ensuring the safety and security of all Dinagyang revelers is a big part of the success of the festival every year./PN
