BACOLOD City – A murder charge has already been filed against Roceller Lanon for the death of his live-in partner Janiclear Cahilig, a native of Purok 7, Barangay Minoyan in Murcia, Negros Occidental.
The victim’s younger sibling, Girlie, confirmed that they filed the criminal charge against Lanon on Thursday, Feb. 15. Lanon was apprehended at their house in Barangay San Isidro, Antipolo City, in a police follow-up operation.
Jealousy may have been the motive, the police said.
Cahilig was found dead on Quarry Road in Binangonan, Rizal Province early morning on Feb. 13.
The 31-year-old marketing assistant lives with Lanon and has two children, a 10-year-old son and a five-year-old daughter.
Lieutenant Colonel Evangeline Santos, chief of the Binangonan Municipal Police Station, said they found a lacerated wound on the left side of her head likely caused by the blow of a blunt object.
The suspect, reportedly a former employee of a government agency, has been in a relationship with the victim for almost 13 years.
Meanwhile, the couple’s two children are under the care of Cahilig’s sister.
Currently, arrangements are being made to transport Cahilig’s remains to Negros Occidental for burial./PN
