MANILA – Three Western Visayas-based volleybelles have committed to join the National University Lady Bulldogs ahead of UAAP Season 87 women’s volleyball tournament next year.
Ilonggas Robielle Silla and Patriz Salazar and Bacolodnon Celine Marsh, all products of National University Lady Bullpups, have formalized their decision to remain with NU for college.
Silla and Salazar were both former standouts of the Central Philippine University Golden Lions in Iloilo City before they were recruited to join the Lady Bullpups two seasons ago.
Marsh, on the other hand, was formerly a member of the Trinity Christian School high school girls volleyball team before receiving an offer to join the Lady Bullpups two years ago.
The commitment also concluded the pursuit of other schools for Marsh, who had reportedly been on the radar of the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons the past few months.
Silla, Salazar, and Marsh join the growing list of WV-based players in the Lady Bulldogs in sisters Myrtle and Ruth Terri Escanlar (Pontevedra), Camille Lamina (Guimaras), Shaira Jardio (Talisay City), Pearl An Denura (Dumangas, Iloilo), and Arah Panique (San Enrique).
Meanwhile, aside from Silla, Salazar, and Marsh, five other former Lady Bullpups have committed to the Lady Bulldogs namely Bienne Bansil, Karyll Miranda, Arianna Pua, Carlyn Tizon, and IC Cepada.
“Welcome to National University Women’s Volleyball Team NUNS Lady Bullpups,” according to a post on the NU Athletics Office-Manila on Monday.
The eight players played crucial roles for the Lady Bullpups, contributing significantly to the team’s performance as they secured the runner-up position in the recently concluded UAAP Season 86 high school girls volleyball tournament.
They were also part of the Lady Bullpups team that won the UAAP Season 85 high school girls volleyball championship last year at the expense of the Adamson University Lady Baby Falcons./PN
