Island-destination welcomes two port calls in March

BORACAY – International cruise passengers will relish the adventure and the white sand beaches of Boracay Island, with two port calls in March.

Niven Maquirang, in charge of Port Ship Operation and Special Project, said foreign cruise ships will travel as far as Asian countries and Australia all the way up to Boracay Island this year.

Cruise travelers of Crystal Symphony will visit Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan on March 7.

The Crystal Cruises’ Symphony, which has a capacity of 1,200 guests and staff, will depart Hong Kong, China on February 28 for a 13-night Asia-Hong Kong to Singapore sailing.

The cruise line will stop at the ports of Keelung Taiwan, Hualien Taiwan, Ishigaki Japan, Manila, Boracay, Puerto Princesa, Bandar Seri Begawan Brunei, and Singapore.

Seabourn Sojourn, which can accommodate 800 guests and crew members, will call at Boracay Island on March 17 in a 43-night World Cruise: Australia and Orchid Isles Adventure sailing.

The foreign cruise ship departed Auckland, New Zealand on February 10 and heads up to Australia, Timor-Leste, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

Meanwhile, MV Norwegian Jewel of Norwegian Cruise Line returned to Boracay Island on February 25 with 2,300 passengers.

MS Westerdam of Holland America Line, with 2,700 guests, also made a port call on February 27./PN
