ILOILO City – Police personnel in Guimaras province are ready to implement their security preparations in relation to “Oplan Semana Santa” for a safe observance of Lent particularly on Maundy Thursday, March 28, and Good Friday, March 29.
Police Colonel Rhea Santos, director of the Guimaras Police Provincial Office (GPPO), said at least 150 police personnel will be deployed in Jordan town to secure large crowds visiting churches and those travelling to witness the “Ang Pagtaltal sa Balaan Bukid.”
She added more cops will also be deployed in churches, hotels and other tourist spots in the province.
“We expect influx of pilgrims sa March 28 to 29 so we need more personnel to secure them. Ang iba ay magbakasyon ‘yan sa mga beaches,” Santos said.
The Regional Maritime Unit 6 (RMU-6), meanwhile, said their security preparation is all set, too.
Police Colonel Ervin Glenn Provido, RMU-6 chief, said speedboats and jet skis would be deployed in Guimaras straight to secure travelers.
“May mga speedboats tayo na gamitin at jet skis para mag-secure sa mga travelers from Iloilo and other areas. We all know na thousands of people would witness sa activity sa Jordan,” Provido said.
Maritime personnel would also be deployed in sea ports particularly in Jordan port to help the GPPO personnel.
“We are ready for our security management to safeguard thousands of people who are expected to come to Jordan,” Provido added./PN
