BACOLOD City – Three areas in this city have been identified as priorities by the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) during the observance of Holy Week.
BTOA expects an influx of people in the following convergence areas: San Sebastian Cathedral, bus and jeepney terminals, and the religious procession route.
Jose Antonio Robello, deputy head of BTAO, said that the traffic situation this coming Holy Thursday will be manageable since there will be no classes or work.
But BTAO is gearing up for Good Friday and Easter Sunday, which will be the busiest days for the enforcers.
Robello said during these days, BTAO will observe a “no day off.”
More than a hundred traffic enforcers will be deployed during the morning shift on Friday and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., and another more than a hundred in the afternoon from 12 noon to 8 p.m. in the said priority areas.
There will be some “striker” enforcers on duty along the streets where the procession will pass by, Robello added.
A partial road closure will be implemented to make way for the procession.
“Samtang nagalakat ang procession amo lang man na pagsira sang dalan, i-stop anay ang motorists for a while,” Robello explained./PN
