ILOILO City – Law enforcement agencies have apprehended two suspects and seized approximately P557,600 worth of suspected shabu in a single sting.
The operation at approximately 9:45 p.m. on Monday, April 1, in Barangay Muelle Loney, City Proper saw the collaboration between elements of Iloilo City Police Station 1 and the Iloilo City Police Office-Special Weapons and Tactics team.
Suspect alias “Nonoy,” a 48-year-old driver and a previously arrested tokhang surrenderee, was categorized by the police as a high-value individual, and alias “Beverly,” a 30-year-old unemployed individual, was classified as a street-level suspect. The two are live-in partners.
Authorities confiscated more or less 82 grams of suspected shabu, with a standard drug price estimated at PhP 557,600 but with a street value that could soar to around P1,640,000.
The apprehended suspects are now in police custody and will face charges under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and continue cooperating with law enforcement agencies to eradicate the scourge of illegal drugs in Iloilo City and beyond./PN
