Ex-rebels receive cash aid in central Negros

BACOLOD City – Seven former rebels received financial assistance under the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration (E-CLIP) program of the government.

The aid, totaling P70,000, was handed out to the beneficiaries on April 11 in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.

Each of beneficiary received P10,000, which aims to assist and integrate them back into mainstream society.

The former members of the New People’s Army surrendered to the Guihulngan City Task Force to End Local Communists Armed Conflict (GCTF-ELCAC), Philippine Army’s 62nd Infantry (Unifier) Battalion (62IB), and Guihulngan City Police Station in December 2023.

The 62IB, in partnership with the local police, said they will continue to support the government’s initiatives to provide more programs and projects aimed at sustaining peace and development in central Negros. (Watchmen Daily Journal)/PN
