MANILA – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said the supposed leaked confidential documents linking President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. to illegal drugs do not exist.
According to PDEA director general Moro Virgilio Lazo, the supposed pre-operation report and authority to operate, which both circulated on social media the past few days, were fake.
“There are no such documents, your honor…Siguradong-sigurado po kami. Walang dokumento na ganyan,” the PDEA official said during a Senate hearing on Tuesday afternoon.
Lazo also said former PDEA intelligence officer Jonathan Morales, who claimed to have processed the said leaked confidential documents, cannot be trusted as he perjured his application to PDEA by not disclosing that he was dismissed from the Philippine National Police (PNP).
He added that Morales was also dismissed from PDEA for dishonesty and grave misconduct, as well as the robbery extortion case filed against the latter, among others.
Morales, in the same hearing, insisted on the authenticity of the documents that linked President Marcos and actress Maricel Soriano to illegal drug use since he was the one who processed it.
He added that the supposed operation against Marcos in 2012 did not push through because it was stopped by former PDEA deputy director general Carlos Gadapan, as allegedly ordered by then Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr.
“We cannot simply dismiss it because it was seen by former President (Rodrigo) Duterte. He mentioned a report he saw involving actress Maricel Soriano and President Bongbong Marcos,” Morales said.
“So, this report is just a result of our work. I understand my former colleagues are denying it now because he is the sitting president,” he added. “It’s just a part of it that they sent them here because of their boss’s orders.”
