BACOLOD City – This city hosted the first-ever Health Summit yesterday at the L’Fisher Hotel.
Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez said the summit, attended by different stakeholders, is in line with his administration’s goal of achieving high quality healthcare in the city.
The mayor said while the city already has the Bacolod City Comprehensive Health Program (BacCHP), the summit is another initiative aimed at maximizing the partnership of the city with public and private hospitals, and academic constitutions.
It likewise aims to address pressing health concerns in the city, particularly the problems that the hospitals and patients are facing.
“The stakeholders are here to meet and coordinate with each other on how we can come up with the most efficient healthcare system,” Mayor Benitez said.
Last month, Dr. Eric Saratan, special advisor on health of the city government, said that among the initial problems determined in the city are the lack of hospital beds and other facilities and manpower like nurses.
He had also said that the city is eyeing the establishment of primary health care centers in barangays Alijis, Bata, Banago, Cabug, Mandalagan, Vista Alegre./PN
