ILOILO City – The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) seized P268.5 million worth of illegal drugs in six months.
Data from PRO-6 showed that from February 15 to August 14 this year, different units across the region carried out a total of 1,278 antidrug operations which resulted to the seizure of 39,136 grams of shabu and 20,805 grams of marijuana and the arrest of 1,648 drug suspects.

Crime Rate Drops
Meanwhile, Western Visayas maintains stable peace and order situation from February to August. PRO-6 said crime incidents dropped by 8.05 percent, a notable decreased compared to the same period in 2023.
PRO-6 director Brigadier General Jack Wanky said both index and non-index crimes decreased by 14.58 percent and 6.22 percent, respectively.
Wanky also noted the 14.56 percent drop in the eight focus crimes comprising murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, carnapping of four-wheeled vehicles, and carnapping of three-wheeled vehicles and motorcycles.
The region’s top cop expressed gratitude to all unit commanders and personnel across the region for the commitment and hard work exemplified that lead to these accomplishments.
“The statistics show your conviction, patience and eagerness to cleanse the community from the menace of illegal drugs. Despite these accomplishments we will not cease, instead we will engage the community more, the local government units and the other stakeholders to intensify and strengthen our campaign.
