
ILOILO City – The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) arrested 41 drug peddlers and accounted 71 firearms in August alone.
Record from the IPPO showed that from August 1 to 31 this year, 33 anti-drug operations led to the arrest of 41 drug suspects, including 10 high-value targets, and confiscation of 1,047.70 grams of shabu worth P7,124,381.76.
In the campaign against loose firearms, the IPPO had accounted 71 firearms, of which 10 were confiscated, 56 voluntarily surrendered, and five deposited at police stations for safekeeping.
Tracker teams, meanwhile, executed 82 warrants of arrest during manhunt operations, capturing 82 fugitives, 19 of whom were classified as most wanted persons.
Additionally, joint operatives of the IPPO and Municipal Bantay Dagat Task Forces carried out 47 anti-illegal fishing operations, leading to the arrest of 112 illegal fishers, impounding of 65 fishing boats, and seizure of P173,610 worth of assorted fish.
Iloilo police also apprehended 40 individuals and impounded 38 delivery trucks in the campaign against illegal quarry, and 32 individuals were arrested for illegal gambling in 22 operations.
