BACOLOD City – The police in Salvador Benedicto town has no leads yet on the perpetrators of two recent shooting incidents.

Senior Insp. John Joel Batusbatusan, municipal police chief, said his men have not yet established the motive behind the shooting of Brgy. Kumaliskis kagawad Teresita Toreno, 53.

Toreno was shot around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday in Brgy. Kumaliskis while on her way home from a resort.

She was on board an Isuzu Carry with her daughter.

Former barangay captian Juanito Pedrosa was driving the vehicle.

Batusbatusan clarified that what happened was a “shooting incident and not an ambush.”

He also said there were two suspects and not one as earlier reported.

Toreno was rushed to the Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City and is now in stable condition.

Recovered at the crime scene were three empty shells of a .45 pistol.

The shooting of Toreno came over two months after Kumaliskis barangay captain Edwin Peruelo was assassinated by a lone gunman.

“We are still facing a blank wall in the killing of Peruelo. There are no witnesses,” Batusbatusan said./PN
