MANILA – Biñan Tatak Gel 1-Pacman Partylist Volley Angels dethroned Bacoor City Lady Strikers, 25-21, 26-24, 25-21, in the do-or-die MPVA semifinals game on Wednesday night at the Alonte Sports Arena in Biñan, Laguna.

Negrense Erika Jin Deloria delivered another solid performance, finishing with 16 points, on 15 attacks and one service ace, as the Volley Angels erased the twice-to-beat edge of the Lady Strikers to move on to the finals.

According to Deloria, it was a total team effort for the No. 3 ranked Volley Angels to defeat the reigning champions and No. 2 seed Lady Strikers twice in a row in the playoffs round.

“In terms sa amin, beating them twice, it was not easy kasi natalo kami twice din sa kanila and it was very devastating for us,” Deloria said during her Player of the Game interview. “Ginawa namin ‘yung best namin para makabawi and ito ang resulta.”

Deloria said that the team will now shift their focus on their championship series with the league-leading Quezon Province Tangerines, which is composed of players from the College of St. Benilde Lady Blazers.

“Another reset for the team kasi iba naman ang kalaban namin and, I think, kailangan naming i-ready ‘yung sarili namin kasi malakas din sila and gagawin din namin ‘yung best namin,” Deloria said.

The Lady Strikers, on the other hand, will face the Rizal St. Gerrard Charity Foundation in a battle-for-bronze medal game./PN
