ANTIQUE – Local government units (LGUs) in this province are giving their all-out support to their athletes competing in the 2024 Antique Provincial Athletic Association Meet (APAAM) that officially opened yesterday, December 4.
Dr. Oliver Servillon, Department of Education (DepEd) Schools Division of Antique sports coordinator, said on Tuesday, December 3, that LGUs provide the parade and playing uniforms.
“The athletes are in high spirits because of the support given them,” he said.
The 2024 APAAM kicked off with a parade from the Evelio B. Javier Park to Binirayan Gymnasium yesterday afternoon.
DepEd Antique superintendent Nicasio Frio, Rep. Antonio Agapito Legarda, Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao, and other provincial government officials led the opening ceremony.
Around 2,500 athletes will compete in 23 sports events until Sunday, December 8.
Servillon urged athletes to display sportsmanship as the provincial meet is part of the holistic development imparted by their teachers.
Athletes are staying at the Antique National Schools and Delegate Angel Salazar Jr. Memorial School in San Jose de Buenavista town. (PNA)
