
BACOLOD City – Tribu Hitalon, representing Cadiz City’s barangays Zone 1 and 6, was crowned champion in the “Patikanay” drumbeating competition, kicking off the ongoing 50th Dinagsa Festival in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental.
Tribu TiBanDa, composed of barangays Tiglawigan, Banquerohan, and Daga, claimed second place, while Tribu Vil-Gus (barangays Celestino Villacin and V.F. Gustilo, formerly Tribu Sewanara) secured third.
Tribu MaJeCa (barangays Magsaysay, Jerusalem, and Cabahug) placed fourth, and Tribu Yabyab Dongol (barangays Zone 2 and 5) finished fifth.
Special awards were also handed out, with Tribu Hitalon earning the Best in Presentation title and Tribu MaJeCa taking home the Best in Costume award.
The “Patikanay” competition, named after the Hiligaynon word “patik”, meaning to beat or tap rhythmically, once again captivated audiences with its showcase of artistry, rhythm, and cultural passion.
This year’s festival continues with the highly anticipated Dinagsa Festival street dance competition on January 26, which serves as the centerpiece of the festivities honoring the Santo Niño./PN
