BACOLOD City – To effectively manage all city government-owned vehicles, the City Legal Office (CLO) is pushing for the implementation of a fleet management system.
City Legal Officer Karol Joseph Chiu said this system will track, monitor and manage the vehicles assigned to different city hall departments and offices efficiently.
The system features Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking and fuel management, among others, Chiu said.
He added that only fleet cards were issued, thus the CLO recommended to the city government to implement fleet management system.
This recommendation comes after the involvement in alleged fuel pilferage of a regular employee of the Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO).
Chiu said the DRRMO employee was found to have delivered alleged pilfered fuel to his residence about 10 times.
The CLO already issued a show-cause order to the concerned employee.
The city legal officer said Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez will be the one to decide if proper charges would be filed against the employee who denied the allegation.
On Monday, February 10, Mayor Benitez warned city government employees not to engage in illegal activities.
“We will charge all those who are violating the directives and orders at the city,” he said.
He added: “The employee would only say that it’s a small thing, but it’s not right because problem starts with small things.”/PN
