ILOILO City – A weeklong anti-drug operation in Western Visayas led to the confiscation of P10 million worth of illegal drugs and the arrest of 56 individuals, according to the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6).
From February 15 to 21, authorities seized a total of 1,471 grams of suspected shabu and two grams of marijuana across 47 operations in the region.
Police Brigadier General Jack Wanky, PRO-6 regional director, credited the success to effective coordination between law enforcement, local government units, and the community.
“These accomplishments were made possible through the support of the community, law enforcement agencies, and local government units. We extend our sincerest gratitude for their unwavering assistance,” Wanky said.
The Bacolod City Police Office reported the largest drug seizure, with P2.6 million in illegal substances, followed by the Iloilo City Police Office at P2.5 million, the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office at P2.4 million, and the Iloilo Police Provincial Office with P1.6 million.
The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office also recorded the most arrests, detaining 20 suspects, followed by the Iloilo City Police Office with 14.
All 56 individuals are currently in police custody and will face charges under Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
