BACOLOD City – The city government will issue health cards to the blind community operating at the Bacolod City Government Center (BCGC).
Members of the blind community offer massage services at the BCGC grounds every afternoon or during non-working hours as a means of their livelihood.
Lawyer Marty Go, secretary-to-the-mayor, said in compliance with the requirements set by the Department of Health (DOH), blind masseurs need health cards.
“Because blind community handles clients, the city will require them an accreditation from the DOH,” Go said.
This accreditation would ensure that the individual meets health and safety standards, possesses proper skills, and can provide quality service. It likewise protects both the therapists and clients by ensuring compliance with established regulations.
The city government is set to meet with the representatives of each group to inform them of the DOH requirements and regulations.
Go said the City Health Office (CHO) will also coordinate with the DOH in facilitating the seminar or forum for the blind to acquire an accreditation, which is also a requirement of the CHO for the issuance of health cards.
“The said groups had obtained accreditation from the DOH… but only two persons from each groups have been accredited,” Go said./PN
