
MANILA – Pasig City MCW Sports turned things around in the second half to defeat Bacolod Tubo Slashers, 64-54, in the 2025 MPBL Season on Monday night at the Ynares Center in Rizal.
Keith Pido spearheaded the offense for Pasig City with 14 points, while Chito Jaime and Warlo James Batac contributed 11 and 10 markers, respectively, to open their campaign on a winning note.
Down 28-31 after two quarters, Pasig City went on a huge run in the third period, outscoring Bacolod City, 20-12, as they established a 48-43 advantage heading into the final period.
Pasig City’s run continued in the fourth quarter as the lead reached its largest at 13 points at 56-43 before Bacolod City made their shots late in the game to cut the deficit to 10 points.
Jaycee Adjel finished with 12 points, eight rebounds, and three assists, Chester Saldua added a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds, while Jan Gabriel Sobrevega contributed 10 markers for the 0-1 Bacolod City.
The Tubo Slashers will try to bounce back against Muntinlupa Cagers Lakan on Friday night at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Meanwhile, the Lakan notched their fourth win in as many matches following a 72-63 victory over Bulacan Kuyas, which remained winless in seven outings.
Marvin Hayes and Patrick Ramos finished with 14 and 13 points, respectively, while Bacolodnon Domark Matillano added 12 points and six rebounds to be named Player of the Game for Muntinlupa.
Abra Weavers (5-1), on the other hand, handed Rizal XentroMall Golden Coolers its first defeat (5-1) with an 85-70 victory. Dave Ildefonso led Abra with 17 points, six rebounds, and five assists./PN
