LIKE many people, I have been in a cell at Alcatraz Island but escaped. It’s a lot easier when you are a tourist.
Now, United States President Donald Trump wants to reopen it as a working prison for the worst.
Prisoners have previously escaped from cells but died crossing the bay, we presume.
There are surely enough, secure jails already and if not, building and running prisons is very profitable.
Basically it’s probably another attention-distracting stunt rather than wiping out an interesting tourist spot.
However, he might be looking at converting it to a luxurious venue given the number of previous attempts to jail him.

Pope alert
The elections are over, Canada has the same Prime Minister, Mark Carney; Australia has the same Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese; but America has a new Pope, Donald the first.
Most politicians will eventually be shown making an error, saying the wrong thing, falling over, getting bitten by a pup or standing under an exit sign but Donald Trump has done the work himself by posting an AI image online as the Pope. It was done on his official “Truth” site, not on a parody site.
This is insulting in so many ways for the Catholics mourning Pope Francis’s passing, the general population’s regard for a great leader, but especially the MAGA (Make America Great Again) voters who thought they were electing a president, not a comedian.
There might be a message from above once Pope Francis organizes some fire and brimstone for Mar-a-Lago.

Jokes aren’t always funny
President Trump has joked that “I’d like to be Pope.” There is some concern, however, that he may have broken, if not smashed some of the ten big rules.
Sen. Lindsey Graham said he was “a dark horse candidate”. There is horse involvement but rather than “Mr. Ed” providing wisdom, this will involve horse manure.

Not my friend
Has one conservative leader caused another conservative leader to lose an election? It certainly seems so with the Canadian elections where the conservatives were recently expected to win but the anti-Trump sentiment changed that.
The farcical suggestion of making Canada the 51st US state is probably just a distraction from more serious issues but has upset so many people as it seriously devalues Canada as a proud independent country.
The world needs to be wary of loud voices./PN
