MANILA – Bacolod Tubo Slashers leaned on a huge fourth quarter run to upset Parañaque Patriots, 82-65, in the 2025 MPBL Season on Tuesday night at the Paco Arena in Manila.
Jaycee Adjei finished with a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds to go with five assists and three steals to be named Player of the Game as the Tubo Slashers improved to a 2-5 win-loss slate.
“Worth it ‘yung pagod namin kasi nanalo ‘yung team namin. Galing kami sa talo eh, nag-team effort lang, nagtiwala lang sa isa’t-isa, at nagtulungan lang,” Adjei said after the game. “Dinaan lang namin sa team effort ‘yung panalo.”
“Alam namin na malalakas ‘yung sunod naming mga makakalaban, pagtrabahuhan lang namin sa practice, gagawin lang namin ‘yung game plan ni coach, lalo na sa depensa,” he added.
Mark Ray Dubouzet also made his presence felt offensively with 14 points to go with nine rebounds, while Aldave Canoy chipped in nine points, five rebounds, and two assists for Bacolod.
Holding to a solitary 60-59 lead with over eight minutes left, the Tubo Slashers got consecutive baskets from Adjei and Dubouzet to create separation from the Patriots at 68-61.
After a split free throw from Patriots’ Alvin Capobres, the Tubo Slashers got seven straight points from Ira Battaller before Adjei and Chester Saldua sealed the win with their conversions.
