BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) deployed 276 of its police personnel to secure the five-day celebration of the Bacolod Chicken Inasal Festival 2025 from May 21 to 25.
Colonel Joeresty Coronica, director of the BCPO, said these cops were deployed across key areas of the city particularly at the three festival sites – The Upper East-Megaworld, SM City-Bacolod, and Ayala Malls Capitol Central.
“This deployment is not just about maintaining peace and order. It is also about showing our commitment to the community by ensuring that locals and tourists alike can enjoy the festival in a safe and secure environment,” Coronica said, underscoring the significance of police visibility and readiness in ensuring a peaceful and orderly celebration of one of the city’s most anticipated cultural events.
He likewise reminded his men of their duty to uphold professionalism and respect for human rights while performing their responsibilities.
With the theme “Fire and Fusion,” the festival officially opened yesterday along Fr. Ferrero Street in front of the temporary site of Manokan Country at the North Parking Hub of SM City.
This symbolic event underscores the historic role of Manokan Country in popularizing chicken inasal and cementing its place in the city’s cultural and culinary identity.
“Without Manokan Country, there would be no chicken inasal festival to celebrate,” said Dee Sacro, president of the Manokan Country Vendors Association, and granddaughter of veteran vendor, the late Antonena Velez Bolonia. “Manokan is where it all began.”/PN
