ILOILO City – The National Police Commission (Napolcom) Region 6 has dismissed six police officers assigned in Western Visayas after they were found guilty of serious administrative offenses, including grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a police officer.
In a radio interview, Napolcom-6 spokesperson Atty. Michelle Yotoko said the decision stemmed from the resolution of 23 administrative complaints filed against law enforcers in the region. These cases were thoroughly reviewed and ruled upon by the Napolcom en banc.
“Out of the 23 cases filed, nine complaints were dismissed due to lack of sufficient evidence. However, we found solid grounds in 14 cases which led to the imposition of penalties on the concerned police officers,” Yotoko said.
Among those penalized, six were dismissed from the service — the most severe disciplinary action. Three were demoted in rank, four were suspended for 20 days, while another officer was slapped with a six-month suspension.
“These sanctions reflect our agency’s commitment to upholding integrity, accountability, and discipline within the Philippine National Police,” Yotoko emphasized.
She added that the rulings serve as a reminder that misconduct will not be tolerated, regardless of rank or assignment.
Although NApolcom-6 has yet to disclose the specific units or locations where the sanctioned officers were assigned, Yotoko explained that the processing and official service of the decisions are still underway.
She also clarified that those affected by the ruling have legal recourse: “The concerned personnel may file a motion for reconsideration or elevate the matter to a higher authority through an appeal if they believe that the decision was unjust.”
The latest disciplinary action from Napolcom-6 comes amid continuing efforts to restore public trust in the police force, following calls for greater accountability and transparency in handling rogue cops.
