AMID rising economic challenges faced by Filipino families, SPC Island Power Corporation (SIPC) continues to make a lasting impact through its enduring support for education in its host communities. This year, SIPC once again honored outstanding graduating students from Dingle, Iloilo, through generous scholarship grant/incentives — empowering young achievers to chase their dreams despite financial hardships.

For nearly seven years, SIPC has been a reliable education partner through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Guided by its core values of “IMPACT” (integrity, mindset, purpose, accountability, courage, and teamwork), this philanthropic gesture reflects SIPC’s commitment to fostering a brighter future for the community through education.

Its latest program recognized the top five graduating students from Tinocuan Elementary School, Tabugon Elementary School, and Tabugon National High School (Junior and Senior High) for school year 2024–2025. These students received scholarship grants from the corporation. Through these efforts, SIPC aims to ease the burden of schooling costs for families and inspire students to strive for academic excellence, staying true to its vision of fostering strong relationships and engagement with communities by constantly discovering new ways to maximize their impact for a sustainable future.

“We at SPC Island Power Corporation would like to express our gratitude for the support from the community. As part of our commitment to community service and in alignment with the company’s mission headed by our President and CEO, Dennis T. Villareal, and the rest of the top management team, we are eager to share to our host communities,” said Engr. Regie L. Danitaras, SIPC Plant Manager.

“At the plant, we do our best to help. We act as a bridge to connect our company to the community programs, particularly Education,” Danitaras added.

Community Speaks: Gratitude and Hope

Educators and school heads shared heartfelt messages of appreciation for SIPC’s unwavering support.

“Our school’s mantra, ‘We are one for better Tabugones,’ reflects our belief in collaboration,” said Joebert Dabuco, Principal of Tabugon Elementary School. “SIPC’s support has positively impacted the lives of many of our learners, especially those from low-income families.”

Orfenia Osano, Principal of Tabugon National High School, expressed deep gratitude: “This cash incentive will help students pursue senior high school and college. Poverty should never hinder education.”

Mae R. Intoy, Head Teacher III of Tinocuan Elementary School, emphasized how SIPC’s support inspires students to reach higher.

“This is not just a reward for their hard work but a strong encouragement to pursue their dreams. SIPC’s efforts show that education truly matters.”

A Long-Term Advocacy

SIPC’s commitment to educational advancement began in 2016, was temporarily paused due to the pandemic, and resumed in 2022. Since then, the corporation has continued its mission to recognize academic excellence and alleviate financial barriers to education.

This long-running initiative demonstrates how private companies can play a vital role in community development — not only through infrastructure but by investing in people, especially the youth.

“These programs are a reflection of our values,” said Danitaras. “By supporting students, we contribute to shaping a more promising future for our communities.”

Brighter Futures Through Partnerships

SIPC’s education-based CSR program highlights how meaningful collaborations between institutions and communities can create long-term impact. Beyond the numbers and cash awards, what SIPC provides is hope — a bridge for students to continue their education and break the cycle of poverty.

In every medal earned and diploma received, the ripple of SIPC’s scholarship grant is felt. Through its timeless philanthropy, SIPC continues to fuel dreams, one student, one scholarship, and one future at a time./PN
