BACOLOD City – The opening of classes on June 16 in this city was described as generally peaceful and orderly, with no reported untoward incidents, according to the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO).
The BCPO credited the smooth school opening to the proactive deployment of police personnel across various schools in the city and the cooperation of the public in maintaining vigilance.
Captain Ma. Liberty Indiape, BCPO spokesperson, said all 10 police stations were instructed to secure school premises to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and parents.
Colonel Joeresty Coronica, BCPO city director, strategically assigned officers to major school zones to help manage traffic flow, assist students and parents, and maintain peace and order during the first day of classes.
Police visibility and assistance patrols were also heightened in key convergence points, including public elementary and high schools, private institutions, and universities. As of press time, no major incidents had been recorded.
The BCPO assures the public that security operations and traffic management will continue in the coming days to ensure the sustained safety and smooth conduct of classes throughout the city.
Meanwhile, personnel from the Bacolod Traffic and Transport Management Department were also deployed in school areas to assist with traffic flow and prevent congestion./PN
