CAPIZ – The provincial government of Capiz, through the Provincial Health Office (PHO), launched the “KamiNaMen” Men’s Health Program on June 19, at Robinsons Roxas in Roxas City.

The initiative aims to address men’s often-overlooked health concerns and raise awareness about the importance of seeking medical attention. It encourages men — many of whom may hesitate to visit healthcare professionals — to take proactive steps toward improving their health and well-being.

Provincial Administrator Atty. Arthur John Biñas, who represented Gov. Fredenil H. Castro during the event, emphasized the need to prioritize men’s health as part of building healthier communities.

As part of the program, the Provincial Integration of Health and Social Services was held, offering various free services to the public, particularly male participants.

These included blood pressure monitoring provided by the Philippine Nurses Association; random blood sugar testing and blood typing facilitated by the Capiz Philippine Association of Medical Technologists; and medical consultation services conducted by the Capiz Medical Society. HIV screening was offered by ICAP and AIHA, while the Public Attorney’s Office provided free legal consultation.

Additionally, grooming services were handled by the 12th Infantry Battalion of the Philippine Army, and dental extractions were performed by the PHO Dental Team. In addition, free medicines were distributed through the PHO Pharmacy, and health supplements were given by the Philippine Pharmacists Association.

In addition to on-site services, the PHO introduced a Home Bound Provision of Health Services for individuals who are unable to leave their homes due to physical limitations.

Dr. Alex Nolasco of the PHO, who leads the program, underscored the importance of preventive care and early health consultations, especially among men who often avoid medical attention until symptoms worsen.

The “KamiNaMen” initiative serves as a significant step toward promoting men’s health and breaking the stigma surrounding routine check-ups and health-seeking behavior./PN
